Original illustration from Plant A Pocket of Prairie, Meadowlark

"Once prairie stretched for thousands of miles, an ocean of flowers and grasses, a sea of sky ..."   Meadowlarks and many other birds and animals made their homes in this special environment.  Now only remnants of native prairie remain. Here is the original illustration by Betsy, an ink and watercolor drawing on paper, 12 x 7 inches, that was used in Plant A Pocket of Prairie, by Phyllis Root, University of Minnesota Press, 2014.
