Original illustration from Hawk Ridge, Coopers Hawk

From Hawk Ridge by Laura Erickson, perceptive ornithologist living close to the raptor migration route at the western tip of Lake Superior. The book is an entertaining illustrated guide to the birds of prey studied at Hawk Ridge, Duluth, Minnesota, with descriptions and portraits by two of the state’s most beloved authors. Here is the original illustration by Betsy, an acrylic painting on paper, 12 x 12 inches, from the essay about  Coopers Hawks in the book.  Apparently they will persistently attack an owl decoy, even in a neighborhood.
